Since we talked a lot about vices this week, try this (true) fun fact on for size. Two days before the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the men in attendance at the Constitutional Convention of 1787 ran up a bar bill that included 54 bottles of Madeira, 60 bottles of Claret, 8 bottles of Whiskey, 22 bottles of Porter, 8 bottles of Hard Cider, 12 of Beer and seven bowls of Alcoholic Punch. All of this was consumed by just 55 people.
