Hi friends! With the release of the Android Phone app and the update to the FireTV App, we've been getting lots of questions about what else is in store. Here's a quick overview of what we're working on in terms of apps for your various screens.
Phone Apps
Android Phone App - released
iOS app for iPhones (estimated late Feb)
TV Apps
FireTV app Update - released
GoogleTV app Update - in progress (estimated mid March)
Roku TV app Update - in progress (estimated mid March)
LG TV app (estimated mid Feb)
Samsung TV app (estimated mid Feb)
tvOS app (for Apple TVs, estimated early April)
Please understand that "estimated" is very much a guess - not only do unexpected coding challenges and bugs pop-up, the certification process for each of these platforms can be laborious and fickle (LG rejected our first pass at an app because they didn't support the exact color of teal we used in the background of the logo, forcing us to entirely restart the certification process.)
Our goal is to have the entire ecosystem of apps released and working smoothly by summer. The first release of any app is really just a beta where we're counting on your help and patience to squash bugs. After that, we'll be able to get things dialed in and, ideally, begin to add features that you all request.
